We are excited to announce that in April 2018, NOFFN has started to offer shares in a Community-Supported Agriculture Program called CSA in NOLA.
This program is a collaboration of NOFFN partners and currently include Gro-NOLA (that's their urban farm above), Real Food Real Local, ArtKlub, Ceres 504, Food & Farm Works and farmers.
What is CSA?
CSA Stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It allows residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers. When you become a member of a CSA, you’re purchasing a “share” of vegetables from farmers.
CSA shares (enough for 2-3 people) usually include 7-10 types of local vegetable and fruits, herbs, half dozen fresh eggs, plus value-added products. It’s basically a big box of yummy, random and delicious produce that comes from local, community sources.
For decades, CSAs have supported small-scale farmers and strengthened local food systems. Members experience the seasonal fluctuations of the farm’s produce, a process that teaches consumers more about the natural cycles of food production. Farms benefit by receiving upfront, steady income from members, minimizing some of the risks that come with small-scale farming.
How's it Work?
Every week you place an order for a CSA share at one of our two sites -- Our Garden @Ferry Place, and the ArtKlub. Orders need to be made at least 48 hours prior to the distribution date (it’s a different day based on location).
Shares cost $25 at ArtKlub and can be purchased through PayPal.
Please note that the Ferry Place distribution is handled separately. To sign up for that please contact icacrawford7 at gmail.com
