Grow Mo' Betta Workshops: Farm Yard Training 11/15/08 |
Better Growing with Grow Mo' Betta Food & Farm is sponsoring Grow Mo’ Betta, a series of sustainable agriculture trainings as part of its Farm-Yard Project dedicated to “growing growers” in urban settings to increase local production and availability of fresh and affordable food.
The Farm-Yard Trainings teach the urban gardener or farmer sustainable garden practices and are created with a variety of gardening and farming types and experience levels in mind. Novices as well as seasoned growers are all welcome! Pre-registration is required. |

The Farm Yard Project (#2) |
| The Farm Yard Project of The New Orleans Food & Farm Network will build eleven free backyard gardens and plant ten fruit trees in Hollygrove on Saturday, August 27th, 2005. This is the first installation for a project dedicated to improving access to fresh food and the quality of neighborhood life, one community at a time. Kevin Brown, director of The Trinity Christian Community Center, a Hollygrove ministry says In a neighborhood like Hollygrove where eating habits can be part of an unhealthy lifestyle, the Farm Yard project is a breath of fresh air. |

The New Orleans Food & Farm Network (N.O.F.F.N.) kicks off its neighborhood organization on food justice on Saturday, August 27th, 2005 beginning at The Trinity Christian Community Center in the Hollygrove neighborhood. | Local Chefs are pitching in to support food justice for the returning citizens of New Orleans with the giving of 5% of their profits on June 17th, 2006 to the Find the Food food justice program of The New Orleans Food & Farm Network and Market Umbrella.Org. The Food for Foods Sake Event will entertain diners all over the New Orleans area while providing Find the Food Maps to help returning residents find food sources in neighborhoods that lost most of their nearby food sources. This project is dedicated to improving access to fresh food and the quality of neighborhood life, one community at a time. Dig This! (Feb 2007) |
"Dig This!" is a daylong seminar held twice a year, hosted by the New Orleans Food & Farm Network to show participants how to grow food crops at home. Basic organic growing techniques are offered that include soil testing, creative container growing, fruit tree info and planting techniques, tips on varieties of veggies for our area, and composting styles. Attendees will participate in hands-on activities and take home information to begin their own projects. Speakers include local horticultural expert, extension agent and columnist, Dan Gill as well as local Permaculture landscape designer, Grant Estrade.
