…and the winners are!…NOFFN's 2012 Annual Photo Competition

We are excited to announce that winners of the NOFFN 2012 Annual Photo Competition. Entrants were asked to submit photos highlighting the diversity and connectedness of life in our backyards and gardens throughout New Orleans.

Our judges – youth

from the Grow Dat Youth Farm and a panel of local professional photographers – arrived at first, second, and third place winners along with 10 honorable mentions.

The top 3 winners and honorable mention entrants will be included in the PhotoNola 2012 – the annual festival organzied by the New Orleans Photo Alliance – and will be honored at a reception at the Grow Dat Youth Farm on Saturday December 1, 2012 from 3:30 to 5:00pm.

We congratulate all of our winners on their outstanding work! Check out our winners, choose your own faves, then share them with family and friends.

    NOFFN's budget is tight, so we make use of the resources available to us.
    If you have unwanted tools or materials, we’ll be glad to make use of them to help urban farmers. Used items are always welcome!
    • Gardening tools: shovels, hoes, etc.
    • Handheld gardening tools: hand cultivator, spades, etc.
    • Canning supplies for food preservation demonstrations
    • Freezer bags for food preservation workshops
    • Concrete blocks for raised beds
    • Lumber for garden structures
    • Fencing
    • Seed starting trays
    • Vegetable seeds
    • Plant stakes and twine
    • Large containers for container gardening
    • 50 Gallon Drums to use as water barrels
    • And last but definitely not least, growing medium – soil, compost, manure, mulch, etc. – for growing.
