Little Sparrow Farm CSA starts 10/16/2012 – Sign up today!

Little Sparrow Farm is a small side effects to clomid urban farm in New Orleans, LA, which offers weekly produce boxes to neighbors of our three small farm sites.

The farm, managed by Marilyn Yank, Blake Hansen, and Anneka Olson, offers fresh vegetables

, herbs, and flowers. All products are city-grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. They have small farm sites in Mid-City, Lakeview, and Bayou St. John, a total of 1/4 acre of production space.

Since 2009, they have been offering weekly CSA boxes from October through June to sixteen neighboring households at their Mid-City site. With the addition of a larger site in Lakeview, they will be offering more boxes for the upcoming season, starting October 2012.

Please email littlesparrowfarm@gmail.com if you are interested in becoming a CSA subscriber!

The season begins October 16th. Spots are available on a first-come basis, and they are limited. Check out their Fall CSA page to learn more about the kind of produce we’ll be including in the boxes, pricing, and signup.

Also, they will occasionally hold sidewalk sales of bumper crops. If you would like to be kept up-to-date about their events, please sign up their newsletter!

They offer a produce box weekly or bi-monthly to farm subscribers. Every week, they put together a $20 box of whatever is in season at the farm, and then you come pick it up on:

  • Tuesdays in Mid City at Cleveland and Cortez, 4-7pm
  • Wednesdays in Lakeview on 14th between Pontchartrain Blvd & Fleur de Lis Blvd, 4-7pm

The Fall season starts Tuesday, October 16th, and lasts through mid-December. As a subscriber, they ask that you commit to those 10 weeks of boxes.

They encourage prepayment, and there is a small discount for those who choose to do so:

  • $190 for weekly subscriptions (10 boxes)
  • $95 for bi-monthly (5 boxes)

In early October, they will hold a farm open house and sidewalk sale for you to meet the farmers, pick up pre-payment checks, and show you around the site!
